Information

Willow Lodge is a brand new facility for 4 to 7 year olds, part of King's School in Chester. The building houses 6 classrooms, some with a covered outdoor teaching area. There are 3 breakout rooms, a main hall, dining area, activity room, library, staff workroom, contemporary WC facilities and a medical room.

Willow Lodge is surrounded by extensive outdoor grasses and wooded games. The large playing area contains wooden seating and play equipment. The internal finishes are a combination of vibrant and sympathetic finishes, specifically designed to engage the young children and infants attending the school.

The school has been built from ASC sourced Siberian larch timber frame cedar cladding and includes a number of innovative and sustainable features, including a green sedum roof and rainwater harvesting.

Anwyl Construction worked closely with the local community and the school to ensure that pupils’ parents and residents were fully aware of the phase of construction works in advance, and dates of completion expected.

The project team had the inevitable challenge of maintaining the existing school pupils’ health and safety throughout the project. They ensured the school was fully aware of all health and safety policies and procedures on site. All site workers were extremely vigilant and a special gated access route was put in place so pupils could safely cross the construction area to reach their sports field.
